About

Jenté Safe Place, Inc. was founded in 2018 by Jennifer Washington, a U.S. military veteran, with a vision of creating safe, supportive environments for individuals facing crisis, trauma, and housing instability. Her passion for serving vulnerable populations grew while working in correctional facilities, where she witnessed firsthand how abuse, trauma, homelessness, and difficult life circumstances often leave individuals without the resources or support needed to rebuild their lives.

Having narrowly escaped a possible abduction as a teenager, Jennifer was inspired to help protect others by promoting awareness, education, prevention, and access to safe, transitional housing. What began as a mission to support survivors of abuse has grown to include individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and veterans in need of safe housing and supportive services. Today, Jenté Safe Place remains committed to empowering individuals with the resources, stability, and opportunities needed to achieve independence and rebuild their quality of life.

Our organization is made up of a dedicated team of compassionate leaders, volunteers, and community partners who work together to advance our mission and strengthen the communities we serve.
